"No where to go but up" does not only apply to success but also to character. Acknowledging that there will always be people who are better than you in many aspect will open more doors to knowledge and improvement. By keeping in mind that we aren't always right will also pave way for better understanding. Humility is indeed the mother of all virtues.

Stay Humble and Confident
Confidence in realizing that you understand what you are doing is good. Overconfidence that you act like others have no idea of what's going on thinking like you can always outsmart them most of the time ends in disaster. Be confident. Be humble. Be calm.

Humbled by confidence
The usually mistaken notion is that confidence is the complete opposite of
humility. But in reality, one can be both at the same time. Truth is you can't truly be humble without being confident. For it is by knowing yourself that
you'll get to learn your skills and abilities. You'll know what you can do and
what you can't. You will realize which things you are good at and which you are
not. And thus you'll become confident of doing things you know you are capable
of. And by being aware of your capability, you accept the possibility of others
doing things better than you. That you can still fail on something which you
are good at. Thus, you will be humbled by being aware of your own limitation.
And such awareness of limitation is a part of being confident.
On the other hand, lack of self-esteem and arrogance are the two
contrasting characteristics of being confident and humble respectively. Though
I was able to identify the co-relation between humility and confidence, I'm not
so sure how the lack of self-esteem and arrogance can be mixed up. Can you?

Knowledge, Humility, Wisdom
We continue to learn as we age. There’s this insatiable
thirst for knowledge which is within our nature. Though sometimes, pride gets in the way. Pride
that makes us think we already know enough. Pride that diminishes or puts a
halt on our appetite to learn. It is
something that usually leads us to arrogance.
By contrast, the more knowledge we gain, the more we realize
there are more things in this world that we do not and will not know. A realization which makes us humble. And this humility will lead us to wisdom, wise
enough to know that things are not always what we initially perceived based on
our limited knowledge. And that we have to think twice or even more than that
before we can draw a sound conclusion.
