Stay Humble and Confident

Confidence in realizing that you understand what you are doing is good. Overconfidence that you act like others have no idea of what's going on thinking like you can always outsmart them most of the time ends in disaster. Be confident. Be humble. Be calm.

Imaginary Enemies of Insecurity

There’s a sudden increase of quotes and posters going around the social media that portray heroism out of underrated roles in the society. Or, are they really?

Playing the victim card is rampant not because people are real victims but most of the time, it is caused by insecurity. There are those who think that their roles in the society are lowly and that people look at them degradingly. Truth is, thinking low starts within the person himself, not from the outside. Unaware of this, an insecure person starts justifying his existence by magnifying and dramatizing his acts. And while doing so, he creates imaginary enemies like those whom he think are belittling his contributions and in the process doing ugly comparisons and ends up as the one guilty of degradation of the role of another person.

Insecurity is never a justification to put someone on a higher pedestal while dragging another one below. Insecurity is an illness of the society. Confidence is the better alternative. Confidence is to understand that what you do is important for who you care for and not for the others to care about

Humbled by confidence

The usually mistaken notion is that confidence is the complete opposite of humility. But in reality, one can be both at the same time. Truth is you can't truly be humble without being confident. For it is by knowing yourself that you'll get to learn your skills and abilities. You'll know what you can do and what you can't. You will realize which things you are good at and which you are not. And thus you'll become confident of doing things you know you are capable of. And by being aware of your capability, you accept the possibility of others doing things better than you. That you can still fail on something which you are good at. Thus, you will be humbled by being aware of your own limitation. And such awareness of limitation is a part of being confident.

On the other hand, lack of self-esteem and arrogance are the two contrasting characteristics of being confident and humble respectively. Though I was able to identify the co-relation between humility and confidence, I'm not so sure how the lack of self-esteem and arrogance can be mixed up. Can you?

I Saw the Sign

Waiting for a “sign” is another way of saying “Ok. I really know what I should do but I'm just afraid to leave my comfort zone. So I’ll just trick myself into believing that I should wait for something which is improbable to happen or let some event, people, animal, thing or whatever out there to decide and think for me before I act”.

Why not act on it yourself? Be brave. Be accountable for yourself. For once, stand up, think and make that bold decision. In the end, it’s just between you and that crossroad. And no one’s getting blamed nor is benefited directly of the outcome of that decision, but you.

--> And I saw the sign again.
