How to Make Money from the Impeachment Decision

After the impeachment trial, it seems that there are more questions than answers that arose on the Filipino minds. These are just some:

-          -  Who will replace Corona as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court?
-          -  What will be the impact of the Senators’ votes on their election bids?
-          -  What is Malacanang’s reaction?
-          -  Will the legislative create a new law regarding SALN and Foreign Currency Accounts?
-          -  Will there be next in line (GMA and Corona’s case) and who are they?

These are all valid questions.  Many of us will probably talk about these issues in the following days.

But the thing that I'm most curious with regarding today's verdict is on which way the stock market will move tomorrow. No dramas happened. There are no violent reactions. The impeached chief justice accepted his fate willfully. Everything seems to be in order and the general ambiance looks very positive. Therefore, my “tsambanalysis” is that the stock market will bounce big tomorrow especially the 1st and 2nd liners which are mostly laggard on the previous days due to the cyclic market correction. If one’s early and have some money to trade, I believe that it’s a good day to do some “tsupitas” and earn some extra tomorrow. But again, it's just my analysis and I might be wrong of course. Just like what they say, "caveat emptor". ;-)

Well, it’s just one thing that I think has a quick direct impact on the individual Filipinos especially the investors and the traders.

Apologies for those who are not able to comprehend the above paragraph. But I have good news for you.  I’m planning to create a new blog regarding fundamentals of investments and money making tips. I’ll try to share you some of my basic understandings using the layman’s term for easy reading and understanding.

I’m relatively new in this stuff as well but if you are interested to learn further, hope you can join me on my journey thru the world of investments.  I’ll announce the details very soon.

Thanks for the visit and hope that you also like our Facebook page “The Ignored Genius”(see the like button on the mid-upper right part of this page) or follow me on Twitter @ignoredgenius. Thanks!

I Saw the Sign Again

I wrote this follow up article on the “waiting for a sign” topic as I believe that the first one was too short and too direct that it might have caused confusion and misinterpretation to some.

It doesn’t mean that I don’t believe in signs. Signs are important. These are indicators that tell us if something’s good or bad. I go to the doctor when there’s a sign of illness.  I do the same workout if there’s a sign that it’s doing well for my body.  I slow down when the traffic sign tells me to do so.

It’s not really the sign per se that I am against with but the “waiting” part. By waiting, it means putting things outside our control. And why wait for a sign if there were lots that preceded it.  Obviously, the needed signs were already there, hence you wouldn’t have been contemplating to do that decision. Besides, the sign being waited on will depend on personal interpretation according to the bias of that person.

So rather than wait, one must act but not carelessly. Calculate the risks and possibly mitigate them. Then decide.

I Saw the Sign

Waiting for a “sign” is another way of saying “Ok. I really know what I should do but I'm just afraid to leave my comfort zone. So I’ll just trick myself into believing that I should wait for something which is improbable to happen or let some event, people, animal, thing or whatever out there to decide and think for me before I act”.

Why not act on it yourself? Be brave. Be accountable for yourself. For once, stand up, think and make that bold decision. In the end, it’s just between you and that crossroad. And no one’s getting blamed nor is benefited directly of the outcome of that decision, but you.

--> And I saw the sign again.

Popopopoker Face, Popopoker Face

I really don’t want to discuss about the Lady Gaga concert but since I saw a lot of reactions from both sides and noticing some people “clueless” on what the issues really are, I can’t help but try to jump in the mud and join the fray.  Well, not really. Just voicing out my opinion here.

Straight to the point.

First, to the rallyists, I admire your courage in voicing out what you stand for. You risk (again) of being called the losers, the hypocrites, the narrow-minded, and everything else negative that the Lady Gaga fans can think of about you. In a way, I understand your point. Your protest doesn’t mean you’re saying you are innocent. You are old enough to know these things.  Your message is that you want to avoid having those “unguided youth” getting swayed easily by the bold acts of the artist on her concerts. If one had watched videos of her previous concerts, they’ll know what you’re saying.

But I hope that your attempt on preventing the “perceived negative influence” not just of Lady Gaga but of all bad elements of todays media to the youth does not end on these rallies.  Begin with the foundation of morals of the youth. Start with the most basic element of society, the family.  If a child’s moral foundation and ethics are built strongly by their parents, they won’t get swayed easily by external factors, especially by a just a 2-night concert of a famous pop artist.

And second, to the fans especially the “die-hard ones”,  I do agree with you on this: Lady Gaga is an artist and what she’s trying to do is an art.  But I hope that you refrain from giving the statement that  what she’s doing is just an expression of art and implying that everything that she’s doing there are “innocently” done. We might be born this way but we were not born yesterday.  Like what one of my Facebook pal Obed Dela Cruz mentioned on his status, that arts are messages of an artist. The products of an artist’s mind are not accidental. They are talking to us thru their works. Artists have ways of sending messages, and it’s obviously thru their art. I just hope that the parents who supports their child’s following of Lady Gaga aren’t clueless of what possibly their children can witness on her concerts (is there an age restriction for the concert? I hope so) and what messages that their children might get from supporting their “idol’s works of art”.

And also, Lady Gaga is very open with her beliefs and it’s her right to try swaying and influencing people with them. Well, it’s the same rights that the protesters have in telling people not to support Lady Gaga’s advocacy.

And lastly to Lady Gaga, I admire you for using  very well the issues and controversies to your advantage and benefit: sold-out concerts, big sales on albums, front page on news, awards, and more money.  You really had stirred the water. You know how to use your cards well with only few people noticing. That’s quite a great “pokerface”.  ;-)

This was our entry for GMA Kapusong Pasko video making contest last December. Unfortunately, we didn't win. :)
